Why service your bike at Cycle Africa
A bike is a wear-item. Cables stretch, pads thin, chains stretch beyond 0.75% and start eating into cassettes that cost KES 8,000 to replace. A KES 1,500 gear tune-up prevents a KES 12,000 drivetrain replacement six months later. Our workshop at Dar es Salaam Road turns around roughly 40 bikes a week; the mechanic team is Shimano-trained and carries GIANT service tools.
How to use this calculator
If your bike has one or two specific issues — sticky gears, spongy brakes — tick the a-la-carte items. If your bike has not been serviced in over 6 months, or you have been riding it hard through rain and dust, pick a full-service tier. Bronze is our best-seller. Gold is the annual reset most road and gravel customers book once a year.
What each service actually does
Puncture — KES 300. Tube patch, rim check, tyre re-seat. Under 20 minutes.
Chain replacement basic (7 – 10 speed) — KES 1,500. Includes chain measurement, cassette wear check, new KMC or Shimano chain.
Chain replacement 11 or 12-speed — KES 4,500. Higher-cost chain (Shimano SLX, XT, GRX or Ultegra grade), same labour.
Gear tune-up — KES 1,500. Cable tension, derailleur limits, hanger check, shift under load test.
Brake bleed per caliper — KES 2,000. Shimano, SRAM or Tektro hydraulic. Bleed kit, fresh mineral oil or DOT.
Wheel true — KES 1,000. Lateral and radial trueing on the truing stand, tension balance.
Headset service — KES 2,500. Strip, clean, regrease bearings, torque to spec.
Bottom bracket service — KES 3,500. Remove, inspect, regrease or replace, torque to spec.
Fork service — KES 4,000. Lower-leg service on RockShox, Fox or SR Suntour: seals, foam rings, fresh oil.
Turnaround times we actually keep
Puncture and gear tune-up — 30 minutes if you wait. Chain, brake bleed, wheel true — same day if you drop before noon. Bronze full-service — same day. Silver — 24 hours. Gold — 48 hours. Fork lower service alone — same day if the seals are in stock; 48 hours if we need to order.
Giant warranty policy
Frames, forks (rigid), and drivetrain components on Giant bikes bought from us are covered under Giant global warranty. Labour is free during the warranty window; parts are at cost if the claim is approved. Bring your original invoice or the registered serial number.

Do I need a booking?
Walk-ins welcome, but a booked slot skips the queue. WhatsApp us to book.
Do you service non-Giant bikes?
Yes. We service every brand — Giant, SAVA, CAMP, Cruztrek, NOOYAH, TWITTER, Phoenix, Trek, Specialized, Merida, and the rest.
Do you collect and deliver?
Within Nairobi CBD, Westlands, Kilimani, Karen, Kileleshwa — yes, KES 500 each way. Bookings via WhatsApp.
Parts warranty on service?
Labour warranty 30 days on the exact job done. Parts warranty is by the manufacturer.
Free health check?
Yes — first Saturday of every month. Bring the bike, we run a 15-point safety check, no cost.
