Buy Bikes in Kilimani, Nairobi — 2026 Guide

Kilimani is one of Nairobi’s densest residential neighbourhoods — young families in apartment complexes, corporate professionals near Yaya Centre, and a rapidly growing e-bike commuter population. Its cycling profile is very different from Karen or Runda: shorter rides, more kids, more apartments (which means storage matters), and Ngong Road as the natural connector to both Ngong Forest to the west and Karura Forest to the north.

Cycle Africa Bikes is East Africa’s leading Giant bicycles dealer. Our flagship on Dar es Salaam Road is 6 kilometres from Yaya Centre — roughly 15 minutes outside peak, our second-closest delivery corridor after Westlands. This guide is written for Kilimani residents specifically: kids’ bikes with proper sizing, e-bikes for apartment living, storage-conscious models, and the safe local routes that most Kilimani riders actually use.

Same-day bike delivery to Kilimani

Kilimani is our second-fastest delivery zone. We deliver same-day countrywide, but delivery is charged, not free. Same-day for weekday orders placed before 2 PM. Pay on delivery is available in Nairobi only; upcountry orders need a KES 2,000 deposit before dispatch. For apartment blocks we deliver to the reception desk or your parking bay by arrangement.

  • Argwings Kodhek Road — main artery. Same-day, apartment-block or gated-compound delivery.
  • Ring Road Kilimani / Wood Avenue — Elite Bike Shop corridor, plenty of buyers here. Same-day.
  • Denis Pritt Road / Chaka Road — Yaya Centre residential. Same-day.

For addresses outside these top-three roads, delivery is still same-day but may carry a small fuel fee (usually under KES 500). Anywhere in Kilimani, WhatsApp us on +254 725 511513 with your pin and we quote before you commit.

Popular rides from Kilimani

Kilimani rides differ from Karen or Runda: shorter, more family-oriented, more Karura and Ngong Forest access, less pure road cycling. Distances from Yaya Centre.

What Kilimani cyclists buy from us

Kilimani buyers ask for two things: ‘What’s a good first bike for my child?’ and ‘Which e-bike fits in my flat?’ Here is what actually moves for Kilimani postcodes.

  • NOOYAH 20-inch Kids’ MTB. The Kilimani first-bike. Alloy frame, hydraulic disc on the higher trim, correct geometry for 6–9 year olds. Comes with a training half-day at the flagship.
  • Cruztrek 24-inch Kids. The upgrade bike — 9–12 year olds moving from a 20-inch. Rides Karura, rides the estate, rides the family Saturday ride.
  • Phoenix Foldable E-Bike 960W. The apartment e-bike. Folds in half, fits behind a Kilimani apartment door, secure enough for an underground parking bay. KES 95,000.
  • Giant Escape 3 (Hybrid commuter). For the fitness-first commuter without electric. Comfortable, mounts for a rack, at home on Argwings Kodhek.
  • SAVA hardtail (adult MTB). For the parent riding alongside the kids to Ngong Forest. Reliable, light, low maintenance.

All prices, current stock and full specs are on our main shop page. Complete bikes are ride-ready — inflated, adjusted, and tested before they leave the flagship.

What a Kilimani customer says

“We got a NOOYAH 20-inch for our son and a Phoenix foldable for me on the same day. The fit at the flagship was proper — they measured him twice and refused to sell him the bigger 24-inch he wanted because it was wrong for his current height. That kind of honesty is why we came back for my daughter’s bike three months later.”

Lipa pole pole — pay at your own pace

We work with no lender and offer no credit. What we do offer is lipa pole pole: pay in bits at your own pace, and collect the bike once it is fully paid. No interest, no paperwork, no third party. For families buying two or more bikes at once, we offer a 5% household discount off list.

  • Lipa pole pole — pay in bits at your own pace; the bike is yours to collect once it is fully paid.
  • M-Pesa Paybill — 522533, Account 7538565. Full payment or lipa pole pole credits.

Kids’ bike sizing — get this right before you buy

This is the single most common Kilimani parent mistake: buying too big ‘so they grow into it’. A too-big bike is unsafe and, worse, it teaches bad handling habits that persist for years. The rule: your child’s feet should touch the ground when seated. Rough sizing: age 3–5 uses 12–14 inch wheels, age 5–7 uses 16 inch, age 7–9 uses 20 inch, age 9–12 uses 24 inch, age 12+ moves to small adult 26 or 27.5 inch. Bring your child in to the flagship for a proper 20-minute fit — we take this seriously, and refuse to sell wrong sizes.

Apartment storage — the Kilimani-specific problem

Most Kilimani residents live in apartments. Storage matters. Three practical answers: (1) Foldable e-bike or foldable commuter — the Phoenix foldable takes about the same footprint as a small suitcase; (2) Vertical wall mount — we sell wall mounts at cost (KES 4,500 fitted) that hold any bike safely; (3) Underground parking with a proper folding-lock system — Abus or Kryptonite. We advise on all three at the fit.

Safe cycling with kids in Kilimani

Argwings Kodhek and Ring Road are not kid-safe during peak traffic. But there are three excellent local options for family rides: Ngong Forest Sanctuary (KES 200 entry, 9 km of trails), Karura Forest (KES 200 entry, 50 km of trails), and Uhuru Park on Sunday mornings before 9 AM. Our Weekend Rides Club runs family-friendly Saturday rides from the flagship — kids welcome, WhatsApp us to join.

Kilimani — Frequently Asked Questions

How long does bike delivery take to Kilimani?

Same-day for weekday orders placed before 2 PM. Kilimani is our second-closest postcode to the Dar es Salaam Road flagship — deliveries are usually inside 90 minutes. Same-day delivery to Argwings Kodhek, Ring Road, Wood Avenue, Denis Pritt Road, and Chaka Road. Delivery is charged, not free, and pay on delivery is Nairobi only.

What size bike should I buy for my child?

Age 3–5 uses 12–14 inch, age 5–7 uses 16 inch, age 7–9 uses 20 inch, age 9–12 uses 24 inch, age 12+ moves to small adult. But the definitive rule is feet-on-ground when seated. Bring your child to the flagship for a proper 20-minute fit — we refuse to sell wrong sizes, however much you want the bigger bike for ‘growing into’.

Which e-bike fits in a Kilimani apartment?

The Phoenix foldable — 960W or 500W — folds in half and takes about the same footprint as a large suitcase. It fits behind an apartment door or in a corner of a room. Alternative: any bike + a vertical wall mount, which we sell at cost (KES 4,500 fitted).

Do you deliver to gated apartment blocks?

Yes. We deliver to the reception desk, the parking bay, or your unit door by arrangement. Please tell us on ordering if you need parking access — we’ll coordinate with the block.

Are there safe cycling routes for kids in Kilimani?

Yes: Ngong Forest Sanctuary (KES 200 entry, family-friendly murram trails), Karura Forest (KES 200 entry, 50 km of trails), and Uhuru Park on Sunday mornings before 9 AM when the roads are quiet. Our Weekend Rides Club is family-friendly — Saturdays 7 AM from the flagship.
