A Giant bicycle in Kenya starts at KES 95,000 for a Talon 4 and climbs past KES 1,500,000 for a Reign E+. That is a serious amount of money to spend on a bike you have never sat on. So don’t — test ride first.
Cycle Africa Bikes runs the largest Giant test-ride fleet in East Africa. Two Nairobi locations, thirty-minute demo slots, no purchase pressure, no deposit needed. Bring a phone with an ID photo and we’ll hand you a bike. You come back, you tell us what worked and what didn’t, we make a coffee, and we help you pick the right model — or send you home to think about it. That’s it.
This is East Africa’s leading Giant dealership. We would rather you buy the correct bike than the fastest sale.

Why a Test Ride Matters More Than You Think
Two identical bikes on paper can feel completely different in the hands. Frame geometry, reach, stack, saddle-to-bar drop, tyre pressure, brake lever throw — every one of these tunes how a bike behaves under you. A Giant Trance and a Giant Anthem both sit in the KES 500,000+ trail-bike category, both look similar in photos, and yet one is a race bike and the other is a proper trail bike. You will not know which suits you until you swing a leg over both.
The number-one regret we hear from bike buyers in Kenya isn’t “I spent too much.” It’s “I bought the wrong bike for what I actually ride.” A KES 300,000 hardtail is wasted on someone who only rides Kileleshwa’s paved cul-de-sacs. A KES 130,000 hybrid frustrates a rider who wanted to hit Ngong trails from month one. Fifteen minutes of test riding solves this — permanently.
That’s why we run test rides at cost to us. Zero markup on your visit. Zero pressure to buy today. Our workshop team would rather you ride away with the correct Giant six weeks from now than the wrong one this afternoon.
How a Giant Test Ride Works
- Book — WhatsApp +254 725 511 513, call +254 725 511513, or email [email protected]. Tell us the model, your rough height, and a preferred time.
- Arrive — Dar es Salaam Road flagship for walk-in stock, or Giant showroom on Dar es Salaam Road if you booked a specific higher-end model.
- Get fitted — we set saddle height, brake reach, tyre pressure to your body. Takes about 5 minutes and it makes an enormous difference to how the bike feels.
- Sign a one-page demo agreement — standard bike-demo form. We photograph the bike condition. That is all.
- Ride the loop — a 2–3km route from the showroom on quiet roads and a bit of gravel. You get 30 minutes; nobody’s clocking you to the second.
- Come back — return the bike, tell us what you thought. Loved it, hated it, need to try the next size up — all valid. No pressure to buy today.
Cost: free. No deposit. No card hold. You can test-ride three different models in one visit if you want to — most people do.
Our Two Nairobi Test-Ride Locations
Dar es Salaam Road Flagship — the main showroom
This is the everyday walk-in test-ride location. Multi-brand floor — Giant sits alongside SAVA, CAMP, Cruztrek, NOOYAH, TWITTER and Phoenix — with the most popular Giant models permanently on demo rota. Open every day 7am to 9pm. No booking needed for standard demo models; you show up, we set you up, you ride. Full workshop on-site if you want to see the mechanics working while you wait.
Best for: your first Giant test ride, Talon / Fathom / Escape / Contend / Trance X E+ / entry road models, and anyone who wants to compare Giant against other brands in one visit.
Giant Showroom on Dar es Salaam Road — Giant-only
giantbicycleskenya.com — our dedicated Giant location. Full Giant range including the higher-tier race bikes (TCR Advanced Pro, Propel), Anthem Advanced, Reign, and the complete Liv women’s line. Because higher-end demo models are prepared per booking, you should book at least 24 hours ahead for anything in the KES 400,000+ tier.
Best for: any Giant model above KES 400,000, Liv women’s line, race-road specific demos (TCR, Propel), and anyone who wants a Giant-focused conversation without other brands as distraction.
What Giants Are on the Floor Right Now
Dar es Salaam Road Flagship — walk-in demos always available
- Giant Talon 4 — entry hardtail (KES 95,000). The bike everybody asks about first.
- Giant Talon 3 — mid Talon with hydraulic disc brakes (KES 125,000).
- Giant Contend 3 — entry road bike (KES 115,000). If you’re curious about drop-bars.
- Giant Fathom 29 2 — aggressive hardtail, dropper post (KES 245,000). Feels like a completely different sport to a Talon — try it.
- Giant Trance X E+ 1 — electric trail bike (KES 895,000). Bring your ID. This is a serious machine.
- Giant Escape 3 — flat-bar hybrid (KES 85,000). Best all-round commuter demo.
Giant Showroom on Dar es Salaam Road — book ahead
The Giant showroom on Dar es Salaam Road holds the full Giant range including race road bikes, higher-tier gravel builds, and the Liv women’s line. Because the higher-end models don’t sit permanently on a demo rota, we prep them for your specific slot. Book at least 24 hours in advance via WhatsApp for:
- Giant TCR Advanced (race road)
- Giant Defy Advanced (endurance road)
- Giant Anthem Advanced Pro (XC race full-suspension)
- Giant Revolt (gravel — multiple builds)
- Giant Propel Advanced (aero — book ahead only)
- Liv Devote (women’s gravel)
- Liv Avail (women’s endurance road)
- Liv Rove (women’s urban)
What to Bring
- ID — Kenyan ID, passport, or driving licence. Photo of it on your phone is fine.
- Helmet — bring your own if you have one. We provide one if you don’t.
- Riding shoes — optional. Trainers or hard-soled shoes work. Slip-on sandals do not.
- Water bottle — Nairobi weather is deceptive; bring water.
- Nothing else — no deposit, no card, no reservation fee. Just yourself and 30 minutes.
The 30-Second Test-Ride Qualifier — Which Giant Should You Try First?
Before you arrive, three questions to narrow the shortlist:
| If your current bike is… | and you mostly ride… | Try this Giant first |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing / a supermarket bike | City tarmac + occasional gravel | Giant Escape 3 or Talon 4 |
| A 5+ year old MTB | Karura, Ngong trails | Giant Fathom 29 — you will be shocked how much bikes have moved on. |
| A hardtail you’ve outgrown | Trails, Kereita, Hell’s Gate | Giant Trance — full-suspension revelation. |
| A road bike, alloy, older | Thika highway, weekend group rides | Giant TCR (if you race) or Defy (if you don’t). |
| Anything, at all | Dirt roads, bikepacking, long gravel | Giant Revolt — the most versatile bike we sell. |
| Nothing — hate hills | Nairobi commute, 12km each way | Giant Explore E+ — this will change your relationship with traffic. |
Budget band matters too. Under KES 150,000: Talon / Escape / Contend. KES 150–300k: Fathom, Talon 1, mid-tier Contend/Defy. KES 300k+: everything opens up — Trance, Anthem, TCR, Revolt Advanced, E+ range.
After the Test Ride — What Happens Next?
Three outcomes, all fine:
1. You loved it, you want to buy
Same day pickup if the bike is in stock. Financing arranged same-day (Faraja is typically approved within an hour; M-KOPA and LOOP FLEX similar). You ride the same bike home — we don’t do bait-and-switch on demo units. A first-service is booked 30 days out, free.
2. You liked it but you’re not sure
No problem. We’ll give you the current stock list with prices, our WhatsApp for follow-up questions, and no daily calls trying to close you. If you want to try a second model, book another slot — free again. Most buyers take 2–3 visits before deciding on anything above KES 200,000.
3. It’s not the right bike for you
Also fine. Sometimes the bike you thought you wanted isn’t the one you needed. We’ll tell you honestly which model in our range fits better — even if that means suggesting a cheaper bike. We’d rather earn a KES 95,000 sale that fits than push a KES 400,000 sale that doesn’t.
Some buyers walk away and buy elsewhere. That’s also fine. This isn’t a used-car lot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any age restriction for a test ride?
You must be 18 or over to sign the demo agreement. If you’re buying a bike for a teenager, come with them — we’ll fit the teenager on the bike and you sign as guardian. For adult bikes, minimum height is generally 160cm so the smallest frame size fits.
Do you have women’s-fit demo bikes?
Yes — the Liv line (Devote, Avail, Rove) is Giant’s women-specific brand and we hold Liv demo units in Karen. Book ahead for a specific Liv model. If a rider prefers a unisex Giant, we can also do a demo — some women ride Talons and Revolts happily.
What if it rains?
Nairobi rain rarely lasts long. We push the slot back an hour, or offer another day — no charge for rescheduling. We won’t send you out in a downpour.
Can we book as a group — friends or a corporate team?
Yes. We routinely do group demos of 3–6 riders (churches, corporate wellness teams, cycling clubs). Book ahead so we prep enough demo bikes. Great option before a corporate wellness bike purchase decision.
What if I damage the bike?
Small stuff — a scratch, a small scuff from a fall at low speed — is on us. Genuine crash damage or misuse is your responsibility, and the demo agreement lays out the numbers. In practice, in five years, we’ve had one costly incident. Ride the loop, not the enduro trails.
Do you deliver a demo bike to my home for me to try?
Not typically — the demo model relies on a proper fitting in the showroom. If you’re a corporate client considering fleet purchase (10+ bikes) or a special case, WhatsApp us and we’ll discuss. For any single-buyer test ride, come to Dar es Salaam Road or Karen.
